Take Action Now!First established in 1996, AIDS Day Health Care programs provide services and care coordination to over 1,500 people living with AIDS in New York City, Westchester and Long Island. They are sponsored by Diagnostic and Treatment Centers as well as Residential Health Care Facilities. In 1995-96, when initial rates were developed and programs first began operating, AIDS was a terminal illness. Today, it is a chronic disease. Over time, the needs of clients have increase in number and in complexity, thereby driving up the costs of care. Reimbursement rates, however, have been frozen.
